Does COVID-19 live in Pools?

All the talk is about the coronavirus. Covid-19. You have to be careful when you wipe your butt 'cuz there might not be any toilet paper to buy the next time you go to the store. People are selling hand sanitizer for 60 bucks. Rubbing alcohol is sold out everywhere. People are stocking up like it's Y2K and the apocalypse is among us. I don't think you should do that... I think you should swim.

Now listen I'm no medical expert... So please do not take this as some sort of hardcore fact that has been researched in laboratories by men in white coats and goggles. This is new to all of us but just let me try to explain my way of thinking. Chlorine is a sanitizer. Chlorine for pools is twice the potency of normal standard household bleach. I don't think swimming in a pool is going to cure you of coronavirus. That would be stupid, moronic, and an absolutely irresponsible statement to make. I do however feel that if you've been out in public, maybe...just MAYBE it might benefit you to jump on in something that's filled with sanitizer. I mean if you're allergic to chlorine then obviously don't do it... but if you aren't, meh. Dive on in. Can't hurt. I wouldn't do it in a public pool where there's a lot of people using it and the water is very warm which spreads bacteria easier, but it's late March and these pools are still cold... Put an extra gallon in that baby, run it for an hour and jump on in. Get all that Corona up off of you. You know that smell when you get out of a pool that smells like chlorine? It's actually the smell of chloramines and it's the byproduct of chlorine attacking dirt. So in this case you want that smell when you get out of the pool. Be reasonable, don't dump a full case of chlorine into your pool and then dive into it... But if you've got regular pool service then your chlorine level should be just fine to jump in, and I promise you that your pool guy will not be mad at you adding an extra gallon. Just something to try while the world tries to sanitize itself.

Oh and remember when I said I wasn't a doctor? Well the CDC is full of them and they say it can't be transmitted in chlorinated water. So don't take my word for it, take theirs!
